Alita: Battle Angel is a 2019 American cyberpunk action film based on Japanese manga artist Yukito Kishiro’s 1990s series Battle Angel Alita and its 1993 original video animation adaptation, Battle Angel. It was directed by Robert Rodriguez, produced by James Cameron and written by Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis. Rosa Salazar stars through performance-capture animation as Alita, a cyborg who awakens in a new body with no memory of her past and sets out to uncover her destiny. Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley and Keean Johnson star in supporting roles.

Announced in 2003, production was repeatedly delayed due to Cameron’s work on Avatar (2009) and its sequels. After years of development hell, Rodriguez was announced as Alita’s director in April 2016, with Salazar cast as the lead the following month. Principal photography began in October 2016 in Austin, Texas, mostly at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios, and lasted until February 2017.

Alita: Battle Angel had its world premiere at The Leicester Square Theater in London on January 31, 2019, and was released in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan on February 5, 2019, marking Chinese New Year. It was released in the United States on February 14, 2019, by 20th Century Fox in RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, ScreenX, and IMAX 3D formats. It is the first film produced by Lightstorm Entertainment since Avatar, and the last film released by 20th Century Fox before the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney. The film grossed over $404 million worldwide, making it Rodriguez’s highest-grossing film, but with a reported break-even point of $350–500 million, there is debate over whether it was profitable. It received generally mixed reviews from critics, who praised Salazar’s performance, the action scenes and the visual effects, but criticized the screenplay.

  1. Oh God please don’t put it on Disney or anywhere close to them. I love the movie and to have Disney come even close to it would just kill it. I mean everything Disney touches they destroy with their “message “. So please don’t go there.

  2. Zapan and Jeshugan would be the sequel stars, If they adapt everything like the first movie, fast forwarding a little bit some events and characters, like Kiyomi.

  3. Did you say Manjah? Fooo it's Mang gahhh Manga lol and you also be calling Kevin Feigie fai-ghee FEI- gee are you even paying attention?

  4. Let's get this sequel going already! The fan base grew so much after the movie was made. It came short at the box office, but it sold well afterwards. Let's make this happen!

  5. For alita part 2, I think that she should be able to finally or come close to the main villain , and kill him or almost kill him, and let there be another villain besides a the main villain, that alita is trying to pursue and destroy

  6. Going to see ABA for the first time in the theater based solely on the trailer and not even knowing that there was a anime comic series about her, WAS ABSOLUTELY ROCKIN COOL!! With a storyline and premise that's truly unique and a breath of fresh air in the movie biz. The fight sequences were top notch, with surprise moves and some even funny at times. I own the dvd, the bluray and the 4k versions. I like this movie. I've been waiting patiently for a SEQUEL please. From what I've heard about "Fallen" and "Avenging" I would say that it's easy to see the story unfolding. I wouldn't change it. It sounds like a winner. MOVIES PLEASE…..SERIES LATER

  7. I would LOVE a sequel! I fell in love with Alita the first time I saw it. I was so excited to see Edward Norton at the end knowing there was going to be a sequel that he was involved in just to be so disappointed to not have it yet. I love the story and I love the characters. I am a huge sci-fi and action fan so it was right up my alley. I really hope that they make another movie or so. If they do I will be right there front and center waiting to see it.

  8. Yes it was a great movie. Graphic blended super well. I love to see a sequel. They have couple directions. They could going in on her past and she has more recaps due to her being so old. They could have story of her high success in the arena ball. Then she do still have her curiosity about getting to the top city.
