Tangled is a 2010 American 3D computer-animated musical adventure fantasy comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Loosely based on the German fairy tale Rapunzel in the collection of folk tales published by the Brothers Grimm, it is the 50th Disney animated feature film. It was directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard (in the former’s feature directorial debut), and produced by Roy Conli, with a screenplay written by Dan Fogelman. The film stars the voices of Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, and Donna Murphy. Tangled tells the story of Rapunzel, a lost, young princess with magical long blonde hair who yearns to leave her secluded tower. Against her foster mother’s wishes, she accepts the aid of an intruder to take her out into the world which she has never seen.

Before the film’s release, its title was changed from Rapunzel to Tangled, reportedly to market the film gender-neutrally. Tangled spent six years in production at a cost that has been estimated at $260 million, which, if accurate, would make it the most expensive animated film ever made and one of the most expensive films of all time. The film employed a unique artistic style by blending together features of computer-generated imagery (CGI) and traditional animation while using non-photorealistic rendering to create the impression of a painting. Composer Alan Menken, who had worked on prior Disney animated features, returned to score Tangled, and also wrote the film’s songs with Glenn Slater.

Tangled premiered at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on November 14, 2010, and went into general release on November 24. The film earned $592 million in worldwide box office revenue, $200 million of which was earned in the United States and Canada, making it the eighth highest-grossing film of 2010, and was praised by critics for its animation, writing, characters, and musical score. The film was nominated for a number of awards, including Best Original Song at the 83rd Academy Awards. The film was released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 29, 2011; a short film, Tangled Ever After, was released later in 2012 and a television series premiered in 2017.

  1. i honestly think we have gotten everything or close to we want, we have the series i think they made 2 series or made one thats split into two. the series honestly tells us a lot about them, i feel like after that the only thing they could do with the movie is either make it about her descendants or make it a live action, the only thing the fans really want to know is her relation to elsa and anna, therefore i dont really think a tangled 2 is needed, i definatly would've if they hadn't made the tv series but since they did i repeat we dont need another movie

  2. Emmm…Tangled get animation TV series (2018-2020) where they made compeling story and…implantin all of your suggestings for 2-d movie plotline(story behind Gothel, Sundrop, Eugin backstory etc)

  3. But a lot of the listed plot points they could use were used in Tangled the series, witch pretty much raped everything up. I’d like to see a sequel but idk what they would do.

  4. They already dug a lot into Flynn’s past in the series. As much as I would LOVE a sequel instead of Frozen 3 🙄 I feel the series in a way was meant to be the ending of their story considering she actually cares a lot about Corona and its subjects on a personal level and has matured to the point she’s occasionally a step in queen and has done amazing as such. The only thing I’d actually see is if Disney was willing to dig into the Disneyverse by doing more crossovers and connecting characters (ex: Tarzan was Elsa and Anna’s brother before Frozen 2 debunked that theory) for a while I thought Iduna and Ariana (Rap’s mom) were actually sisters so Rapunzel, Elsa and Anna were cousins, but then Frozen 2 messed that up so perhaps Frederick and Agnar are brothers? I would’ve LOVED to see if Rapunzel’s children could inherit the sundrop’s powers or something? Or why can’t Rapunzel’s hair at least grow? I didn’t like how the dark piece never grew after Gothel cut it, just got smaller as Rapunzel grew.

  5. I would do anything for a tangled 2! As soon as you said live action I thought dove Cameron as rapunzel. Then you said it and I got scared 😱 I prefer animated for a tangled 2 but if not they should use dove Cameron. When you were talking about her hair returning I thought ooh it did in the series actually . I can promise you I'm the biggest tangled fan you'll ever hear of.

  6. I think the live action Tangled might be released years from now and the reason why that is is because Disney is trying to Focus on making live action of Disney movies from the 20th century like the Lion king Aladdin Beauty and the Beast Jungle Book like those movies in general were made in the 20th century Disney movies like Tangled Frozen Moana and Encanto were made in the 21st century like I would love to see a tangled live action film but I just don’t see that happening maybe like 20 years or 30 years from now

And the cast for the live action Tangled

    Blake Lively as Rapunzel

Scott Eastwood as Flynn Rider / Eugene

    Lena Headey as Mother Gothel

Vin Diesel and Billy Zane as the Stabbington Brothers

Dwayne Johnson as Hook Hand Thug

Ethan Hawke as Captain of the Guard

    Danny DeVito as Short Thug

    Adam Sandler as as Nasone
